Start with size
Size is often the first decision. Here's how the three options differ in practice.
One pint (0.6 litres)
For one or two small houseplants such as desk plants. Light to carry, easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces, fits most sinks without tilting.
Two pint (1 litre)
The most versatile indoor size. Suits most watering sessions without becoming heavy to carry. Works for most domestic sink fills.
Four pint (2.25 litres)
For larger collections or several big specimens such as Monsteras. Reduces refilling. May require tilting to fit under lower bathroom taps.
Choose the spout
The spout is the second decision. (Not all spouts are available for all can sizes)
Straight spout with rose
Without a rose for watering into pots. Fit the rose for a spray that is gentle on seed, seedlings, and delicate plants.
Curved spout
Curved spout for accurate pouring into pots. Easier to aim.
Curved spout with rose
Easy to aim into pots and rose from which the spray does not disturb soil.
