Person using a green Haws watering can to water plants in a garden.

For mums who nurture

She’s nurtured her garden and family with equal devotion, and some of your best memories might be side by side in the garden, hands in the soil, learning her green-fingered secrets to growing.

This Mother’s Day, give her the Haws she’s been hinting about, a tool well-made enough to be passed down with her gardening wisdom. British-made since 1886, our watering cans are built to last as long as the memories they help make.

We’ve hand-picked our favourite Mother’s Day gifts, so you can find her perfect piece.

Not sure which to choose?

A Haws should fit her garden as well as it fits her hand. Think about where she does most of her watering.

In the garden

For borders and deep beds, reach matters. A long-reach spout gets water right to the root zone without stepping into the bed, and a larger capacity means fewer trips back to the tap. Our metal cans are made to last a lifetime and look beautiful doing it, while our plastic range offers the same considered design with a lighter feel in the hand.

On the patio

Keeping a patio watered is thirsty work, so choosing a can that's comfortable and balanced to pour makes all the difference. Match the size to her collection – a smaller watering can might be ample for a few cherished pots, or she might prefer a larger capacity if she's got a patio full to tend.

In the greenhouse

A greenhouse watering can often needs to do more than one job. Seeds and seedlings need an extra-fine rose to deliver a gentle spray that won't disturb the soil or dislodge young plants. As plants mature, she can switch to a coarser spray for speed – and a long-reach spout makes light work of far shelves and hard-to-reach corners.

In the home

Watering houseplants needs as much accuracy as possible. A curved spout aims water exactly where you want it, without splashing leaves, surfaces, or anything she'd rather keep dry. If she likes to bring the outside in, a Haws jug will show off her stems beautifully placed on a windowsill or kitchen table.
