HDG means 'Hot Dipped Galvanised', which involves submerging the steel watering can into a molten zinc bath. The molten zinc coats the watering can inside and out forming a protective coating. The can is then removed from the bath and hung to dry.
We attempt to clean off any excess zinc to offer a sweeter finish, however, there is a fine line where too much cleaning compromises the protective seal. So a rough or mottled galvanised finish is to be expected.
The recipient was more than happy with his new watering can. However, now that I've added to the collection, there's now no excuse for me to help water the garden too! 🙂
Initially thought this large watering can would be too heavy and awkward to manage when full. That isn't the case at all. It is very well balanced and very well made. Easy to use, looks great, and I am delighted with my purchase.
